I move between pure math and applied data science, from dynamical systems to testing how language models handle Kazakhstan's university math exams. I also teach, supervise students, and still enjoy a good number theory problem.

In research

Ph.D. in Mathematics from The Ohio State University with over 15 years of university teaching and interdisciplinary research across pure mathematics and applied computer science. Current research focuses on Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Model (LLM) evaluation, speech recognition, and deep learning applications for low-resource Central Asian languages (Kazakh and Uzbek). Key areas include: • Paralinguistic probing and fine-tuning Whisper models for Kazakh speech processing. • Multi-task learning architectures for cross-domain classification and authorship attribution. • Benchmarking LLM capabilities on standardized regional mathematics and reasoning exams. • Optimization, neural combinatorial routing, and mathematical epidemiology modeling. Open for research collaborations on NLP, speech AI, and applied machine learning frameworks.
