I am an ELLIS PhD student at CISPA focused on foundation models, multimodal learning, and activation steering methods under supervision of Prof. Dr. Mario Fritz. My work spans promptable segmentation (SAM), domain generalization, and model soups. I have BMVC 2025, MICCAI 2024, and a Scientific Data 2024 papers, plus open-source contributions and dataset curation. I enjoy scaling experiments, careful evaluation/ablation, and building usable research code.

I earned my Ph.D. in Math from Hiroshima University in 2008. After a brief stint in the oil and gas industry, I found my way back to academia, joining Nazarbayev University in 2011. There, I began researching machine learning and NLP, eventually focusing on deep neural networks. In 2023, I joined Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW). My current research explores how modern AI systems memorize, generalize, and use probabilistic models. At both universities, I’ve designed and taught a wide range of courses across statistics and machine learning.

Currently developing computer vision solutions for guppy fish social behavior classification. Interested in World Models, Gaussian Splatting, Computer Vision. Majoring in Computer Science and Math. Absolute 1st place on Kazakhstan National AI Olymp 2025.
