Rustem Takhanov improves the 12-dimensional kissing-number bound
Great news: Rustem Takhanov, an assistant professor at NU, proved that the kissing number in 12-dimensional space is at least 841.
The previous lower bound of 840, established by Leech and Sloane in 1971, had not been improved for 55 years!
The breakthrough was achieved through an elegant mathematical construction combined with GPU optimization.
