Experience

Undergraduate Research Assistant, Computational Quantum Physics

Nazarbayev University

Nazarbayev University is a research-focused university in Astana, Kazakhstan, with undergraduate and graduate programs and research across multiple fields.

May 2026 — Present

Integrated a QR eigensolver into four production codes, built a multi-precision QR library, and made the QR matrix-multiply workload 1.55 times faster.

• Integrated a QR-based eigensolver into all four production codes of ECGPACK, the group’s few-body quantum package; matches the existing solver to machine precision. Merged upstream; listed as co-author. • Developed qrlinalg, a standalone library for QR factorization, updates and inverse iteration in double, extended and quadruple precision, stress-tested for round-off growth. • Tuned the bundled complex matrix-multiply kernel for the QR workload (1.55× faster).

Undergraduate Research Assistant, Machine Learning in Astrophysics

May 2025 — Sep 2025

Replicated a gravitational-wave detection model, tested its robustness, and found a simpler MLP reached 98.4% accuracy versus 96.7% for the CNN.

• Replicated a deep learning framework for supernova gravitational-wave detection in PyTorch, achieving 96.7% accuracy via Optuna hyperparameter optimization. • Evaluated model robustness with a custom time-shift stress test, revealing that the CNN lacked translational invariance and relied on position-specific artifacts. • Used t-SNE to interpret latent features, identifying 56% filter underutilization and showing that a simpler MLP outperformed the CNN (98.4% vs. 96.7%).

Junior Java Backend Developer (part-time)

Networks Energy LLP

software for railway operations

Aug 2026 — Present

Built railway data ingestion and timetable services, then prototyped a CP-SAT train scheduler using station logs.

• Built a Spring Boot service that ingests national railway (KTZ) locomotive and train data on a schedule. • Normalized the train timetable database with Liquibase migrations and REST endpoints; merged to main. • Prototyped a CP-SAT train scheduler and modeled shunting-cycle durations from station logs.

ECGPACK-NG: High-Performance Rewrite of ECGPACK

Designed a modular, test-driven rewrite with hybrid MPI/OpenMP parallelism and up to quadruple precision. It is bit-for-bit identical to the original, runs 1.3–2.0× faster on production runs, scales to four nodes, and documents 19 defects in the original code.
