Concept of information extraction from text

Orken J. Mamyrbayev, Nina Khairova, Waldemar Wójcik

Abstract

Natural language is traditionally viewed as a system of interconnected elements forming a unified structure. The complexity of this system can be understood in terms of structural, functional, behavioral, and developmental dimensions. To facilitate automatic text processing, it is essential to analyze language units at various levels, utilizing paradigmatic relations and semantic classification features. This chapter considers the identification of the meaning of elements within a complex hierarchical language system. The proposed model defines the meaning of a coherent text as comprising both the text itself and the intellect’s reaction to it. The model describes how the meaning of a text depends on the semantic units that define it, effectively mapping the text to the meanings of its semantic units. Furthermore, two texts are considered identical in meaning if they lead to the same understanding of a situation or solve a specific problem, with the “subject” serving as the core theme of the text.
