Abstract

This pilot crossover study examined how moderate heat (27–30 °C) and varying air quality affect the cognitive performance of young adults using CogniFit tasks and continuous environmental monitoring. Results showed that while warmer conditions tended to improve coordination, perception, and memory, attention remained the most vulnerable area with inconsistent results. These findings suggest that indoor microclimates can be strategically optimized for specific tasks through IoT-based automation like Home Assistant. Ultimately, the study highlights the potential for adaptive rooms to mitigate the cognitive impacts of fluctuating indoor climates.
